Mangaluru: Well-known Konkani writer, dramatist Richard John Pais died on Sunday, March 1 owing to ill health.
He was 51 years old.
Known as RJP, his short stories, satire and poems have been very popular.
His first book, which was a compilation of satire essays was published in 2012 titled as ‘Kolovori’. He has published two more books- ‘Vidhushak’ and ‘Fathor’.
He was chosen for the prestigious TMA Pai Award for ‘Fathor’.
Richard became a well-known name in Konkani theatre through his plays ‘Paanch Mornam’ and ‘Tum Vhorto Dhonea’.
It was only a couple of months ago that he was diagnosed with cancer and he succumbed to the same after a 75-day long battle.
He is survived by his mother, wife, two children.
