
Mangaluru: With everyone taking precautions and adopting measures to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus (covid-19), the Konkan railway has also taken up preventive measures to stop the virus from spreading along its route.
Chief Public Relations officer L K Verma, in a press release, informed that regular intensive fogging, cleaning and disinfection on all Konkan Railway-owned trains, major stations covering platforms, circulating area, staircases, toilets, booking offices, waiting rooms, retiring rooms, desks counters, door handle knobs and areas that people touch etc. have been taken up.
A 24×7 helpline number 10722 has been activated to provide information of hospitals for COVID-19 treatment along the Konkan Railway route. Blankets and curtains have been removed from AC coaches. As a preventive measure, hand sanitizers and masks are provided to all officers and staff interacting with passengers. Covid-19 awareness posters bearing the Do’s and Dont’s, public announcements at platforms for ensuring mass public awareness etc. are being used regularly.
Sixty beds have been prepared for isolation under the supervision of the medical offier and paramedical staff at various health units of the Konkan Railway. Non-essential public meetings and gatherings are being avoided, the press release informed.
