Mangaluru: Since gatherings and programmes, including funeral receptions, have been prohibited by the government as part of the lockdown guidelines, the family of an entrepreneur here disbursed lunch for over 2000 needy people instead of organising a funeral reception.
An entrepreneur from Kavoor, K Madhukar Malli breathed his last a few days ago. After the final rites, his family members had planned to hold a funeral reception on April 13. But due to the lockdown in the district, they decided to disburse lunch for those who are struggling due to the lockdown in three assembly constituencies -Mangaluru South, North and Moodbidri – on Monday.
Madhukar Malli’s son Mohith Malli, brother Hareesh Malli, son-in-law Pavan Malli, Pradeep Alva, Gokul Kadri, Mohan Koppala, Balakrishna Kadri, Navaneeth Shetty and others helped in distributing the food.
