Kasargod: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the state’s longest bridge on March 11 in Achamthuruthy, Cheruvathoor. PWD minister G Sudhakaran will preside during the occasion.
A sum of Rs 23 crore was sanctioned for the 296 meter long bridge by the then Kerala chief minister Achuthanandan in the year 2009. While then PWD minister PJ Joseph had laid foundation stone for the bridge on 17 June 2010, the construction work on the bridge was delayed due to several reasons and it took nearly eight years and several public protests after which the same has been completed.
This brigde, once thrown open, will reduce 13kms from Neeleshwar to Payyanur.
