Mangaluru: Progress still evades us it seems, as a young woman was rescued from a house where she was confined by her mother as she allegedly disapproved of her relationship with a man from another community.
The young woman, a 24-year-old from Thrissur, uploaded a video two months ago from an undisclosed location, describing her plight. In the video, she alleged that she was tortured and harassed by men from the RSS and the BJP and that she was being confined in a BJP leader’s house.
The video that was sent to the woman’s boyfriend, went viral on social media and was even aired by a Malayalam TV channel.
Putting an end to her misery, the police rescued her from a rented house in Barke a few days ago, after which she was moved to a rehabilitation centre, and booked her mother for “forceful detention”.
In the video that was originally sent to the boyfriend, the woman claims that she was forcefully taken to Amrita Hospital in Kochi for psychiatric evaluation after which she was lodged in and RSS orphanage. The boyfriend explained that they were in a relationship for two years but, had known each other for eight years.
He said that he had not heard from her in two months which was when he received the video from her. The man sent copies of the video to the media, to the police and to the Kerala Chief Minister’s Private Secretary.
