Mangaluru: The police have maintained a tight vigil amidst a call for voluntary bandh given by BJP and other right wing group organizations protesting the participation of Kerala chief minister at a communal harmony rally slated to take place later in the day.

The response for the bandh has been lukewarm so far with few buses and rickshaws seen plying on the roads. A few incidents of stone pelting have been reported at some places despite the heavy security arrangements.

The bandh however impacted the several students appearing for the PUC exams today with most private buses opting to remain off roads.

Meanwhile the state government has assured of full protection to Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan during his visit.
