KDP meeting reviews various issues in DK

Mangalore: The Karnataka Development Programme (KDP) meeting chaired by the district incharge minister B Ramanatha Rai, looked into various development programmes undertaken in the district.

While discussing the issue of suspension of BPL ration cards, the Food and Civil Supplies Deputy Director Sharanabasappa said that the BPL card holders can renew their ration cards till July 15, and in urban areas the card holders will have to apply again.

DDPI Moses Jayashekar said that the department would make sure of the materialization of programmes outlined to improve the performance of SSLC students in the district. Special classes will be held for poor students. He said that there is a shortage of 656 teachers in the DK district. The government has allowed to recruit 250 guest teachers.

Regarding the Jeppu fish market and its technical faults the MLA J R Lobo demanded an inquiry into the design, for this, the Minister for Fishries Abhayachandra Jain will inspect and make a decision about it.

After the monsoon the Shiradi Ghat road, at the stretch of 13 km will be made concrete with the budget of Rs 158.18 crore, said the Executive Engineer.
