Mangaluru: State BJP President Nalin Kumar Kateel visited medical students in Ukraine, Anusha and Sakshi Sudhakar at their home on Bejai New Road in the City on Wednesday March 2.
He spoke to the students’ family members and gave them assurance of their safe return and thus boosted their confidence. He said arrangements are being made to bring all the students of the State within a week from Ukraine.
Kateel said, “As per Government statistics, there are about 18 people from Dakshina Kannada in Ukraine. We are in constant contact with students and their family members. Also we have appointed four ministers and have made plans to bring them back. While some have already taken flight back home, others are still in the bunkers in Ukraine. Moreover, BJP has opened war room and we are in touch with students’ family members. We have met family members of five students from the city and instilled confidence in them.”
Stating that let God give strength to the deceased student from Karnataka Naveen’s family to bear his loss, Kateel termed the incodent as an unfortunate and sad one. I have spoken to Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Pralhad Joshi, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai and Union Minister of External Affairs S. Jaishankar in this regard. Also I have instructed Ministers and MLA of that region to immediatetly to go and meet his family members apart from urging State and Central Government to render necessary help, he added.
Informing that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has stated that no problem would arise due to passport issue as there is a panic among the student community and others in Ukraine due to loss of passport. Moreover on the request of Indian PM, our embassy can bring back our citizens without passport. In order to stop the agents from taking undue advantage of the situation, we have appointed team to solve passport problems, he added.
