Kasargod : A special team of the Kasargod police in two separate raids on April 8, Monday evening, has seized 180 kg of ganja worth Rs 27 lakhs and has arrested two persons. A woman has also been taken into custody for questioning. This is the largest ever haul of drugs in the recent times in the district.
The first raid was on the Azeena Quarters at Mallangai in Uppala following a tip. Here the cops found 30 kg of ganja concealed in sacks. A person identified as Abdul Azeez (38) was arrested.
Based on the information provided by Azeez, the second raid was on a house at Bajal in Pavoor near Manjeshwar. In this place, the raiding team found 150 kg of ganja and arrested one Abdul Rahiman (43).
Police said the ganja was initially stored in a house at Kunjattur and was later brought to Manjeshwar and Uppala.
The raiding team included Deputy Superintendent of Police, Mohanchandra Nair, and police personnel, Ramachandran, C K Balakrishnan, Narayanan, Mahendran, Ramachandran, and others.
