Mangaluru: The Karnataka Assembly elections scheduled for May 12 will be a contest between the ideologies of Mahatma Gandhi and Nathuram Godse, opined AICC Secretary B K Hariprasad on April 30.

Taking a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Hariprasad said that the state government led by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has delivered its election promises in five years, whereas the Modi-led central government has failed to do so. There is a vast difference between the two governments, he said.

The AICC secretary also alleged that the BJP was trying to win the election with the intention to change the Constitution of India by increasing its power in the centre. Accusing the RSS workers of spreading false news, he cautioned the public to be alert and choose the candidate who can ensure peace and harmony in the society.

He also accused the NDA government of failing to maintain law and order in the country, especially in ensuring safety of women. Further, he said that there were not more than 100 fake encounter cases in the past 70 years. However, in a year of Yogi Adityanath led Uttar Pradesh government, the number of fake encounters has crossed over 1000, he alleged.
