
Mangaluru: The Kanachur Institute for Craniofacial Anomalies, Kanachur Hospital and Research Centre, Mangaluru conducted a live 11-day surgical workshop “Surgical Smorgasbord” from January 6 to 16, wherein a total of 21 operations were performed.
Chief craniofacial and orthographic surgeon Dr Mustafa and his team of eminent surgeons, craniofacial surgeon Dr Veerabahu, neurosurgeon Dr Geover Lobo, cleft and ear reconstructive surgeon Dr Parith Ladani, Dr Manuprasad, Dr Shreyas Sorake, Dr Krishnamurthy and Dr Abhay were a part of this surgical experience.
Informing about the live surgical workshop, Dr Mustafa, during a press conference held at the hospital on Friday, January 31, said that surgeries like genioplasty, Furlow’s palatoplasty, fronto-orbital advancement, bi-jaw surgery, TMJ replacement and reconstruction, ear reconstructions etc. were the surgeries performed in super-speciality modular operating rooms which had live audio and visual transmission to the adjacent seminar room for the benefit of the workshop delegates. If similar surgeries were performed at other private hospitals, it would cost around Rs 5 lakhs to Rs 7 lakhs, however, Kanachur Institute has done this surgery within Rs 70,000 to Rs 1.5 lakhs. This specialist centre operates on cleft lip, cleft palate, corrective surgeries of the head, skull, neck, jaws and face related to structure and growth, either congenital and acquired deformities. The Institute has been witnessing a growth and is doing a fabulous job for its patients at affordable costs.
