Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada district deputy commissioner, A B Ibrahim stated that the district administration will officially grant the permission to organize Kambala (Slush buffalo race) only after a copy of the judgment delivered by the Karnataka High Court (HC) is received.

Speaking to the reporters on the sidelines of ‘Vijay Diwas’ programme on Tuesday, December 16 – A.B Ibrahim said that the district administration had to impose ban on Kambala, followed by the directions of the animal husbandry department, which quoted the Supreme Court judgment.
However on December 15, the Karnataka High Court issued a conditional stay against the above order.
As per the guidelines, Kambalas can be held in the presence of Tahsildar and police sub-inspector, subject to complying with various conditions. We will take steps on the requests seeking permission to hold Kambalas once the judgment copy is received,’ he added.
