Mangalore: NHAI Engineer Prasanna Kumar, MLA B B Ningaiah and others inspect the pothole-filled Kadur-Mangalore national highway that passes through Mudigere on Saturday.

The work on repair of Kadur-Mangalore National Highway 173 will be repaired within two months, said NHAI Engineer Prasanna Kumar.

Following the complaint from the public that the road that passes through Mudigere is in deplorable condition, MLA B B Ningaiah along with officials from NHAI visited the stretch.

The Engineer said that the road has been handed over to the NHAI by the PWD one month ago. Tender has been issued for developing the road, to a consultancy. Based on the report of the consultancy, the road will be developed. Before the development of the road, the potholes will be filled. As the road will be widened in the near future, those who build the houses on either side of the NH should construct the house 100 feet away from the divider.

MLA B B Ningaiah said that accidents are common on the road following potholes on the NH. The road which passes through the Mudigere do not have warnings on the steep curves. No retaining walls have been constructed near the steep curves. This has been posing a threat to the vehicle users. The officials should take measures to erect board on warning.
