Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel has been booked under IPC section 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) after he threatened an on duty police inspector.

The complaint has been lodged by inspector Maruthi Nayak of Kadri police station.

Nalin had vented his anger against Police Inspector Maruthi Nayak since the police had detained a few BJP protesters participating in the “Mangaluru Chalo” rally at the Kadri Gorakshanath Hall on September 7. The MP demanded the release of party workers within half an hour and also threatened to call for a bandh if cases were registered against BJP workers.

A video of the incident had gone viral on social media.
