JR Lobo: Special park for differently abled kids soon

Mangaluru: The southern railway officers who inspected the Kadri park submitted a report that the old toy train cannot be run, so it will be replaced by a new train. The state government has released Rs 37 lakhs from the Women and child welfare department to purchase a new toy train. The estimated cost for new train is Rs 45 lakhs, so the remaining amount will have to be collected from local sponsors, said south MLA J R Lobo.

He visited the park along with women and child welfare department and horticulture officials and discussed about the future plans.

The plans include a new entrance gate, which will be constructed from the MLA fund at the cost of Rs 30 lakhs.

Answering a query on a special park for the differently abled kids, MLA said the park would be constructed with the help of donors if not it would be built from the MLA fund. “Financial aid has been sought from MCC for the development of Kadri park-Circuit house road work. Necessary parking facility would be provided for the tourists”, said the minister.

The MLA directed officials to maintain and give importance to cleanliness and greenery at the park.

When asked about the new Musical fountain, he said it will be constructed at the cost of Rs 5 crore within 7 months.
