Mangalore: MLA JR Lobo demanded to set up a government-run ‘NRI Forum’ in the city, as there are more NRI’s in the undivided Dakshina Kannada and the cell will cater to their needs.  He said, presently the NRI Forum cell is only in Bangalore.

Addressing the press meet in the city on September 6, Lobo said that the cell if it is set up in the city can help in solving grievances of the NRI’s immediately. As of now, the NRI’s have no idea, whom to approach and where to go to report problems such as passport issues, visa issues, investment and other such emergencies.

Allow to write CET for NRI students

MLA Lobo also asked the government to allow NRI students to appear for CET. He said that the governments in Kerala and Maharastra states have such facility; however the home state has no such provision.

Lobo added that the plea for appearing CET was made by KNRI Jeddah organization, and that he has met to the minister for Higher Education R.V Deshpande requesting the same.

Roshan P Rodrigues, president of Kuwait NRI Forum, congress leader TK Sudhir and others were present.
