Jolly boat ride by tourists in Malpe turns tragic ; 2 yr child missing; 3 children critical

Malpe : A two-year old child  of a family from Doddaballapur in Bangalore  has been reported missing in the seas at Malpe after a boat carrying as many as 16 tourists capsized on May 19, Sunday evening.

The missing child is Hitesh, son of Prasanna Gowda  of Doddaballapur. A family of six from Doddaballapur was among the 16 persons who were enjoying a boat ride. It is said all the other people on board were rescued by fishermen from Tamil Nadu who were nearby. A twenty member team including Janeel, Stalin, Subhash and Sajin  helped in rescuing the drowning tourists.

The condition of three children is said to be serious and they are receiving treatment at a private hospital in Udupi. It is  learnt, the mishap took place when the boat had reached the shores and the tourists were alighting. The child which was in the hands of Prasanna Gowda’s hands, fell into the sea and is missing.

A complaint has been lodged with Malpe police against the boat owner Narayana. It is learnt, the boat had permission to take tourists for a boat ride only upto May 15, in view of the impending monsoons. Life jackets had also not been provided to the boat riders.
