Mangaluru: Nearly one kg of gold jewellery and Rs 3,000 in cash were reportedely stolen from a jewellery shop on Bhavanti Street here on Saturday. The incident took place in the broad day light, when the shop was closed during lunch hours.

Mangaluru North police said that a group entered the shop from the back by digging a hole in the wall of Gulab Jewellers. The owner Manjunath Sanu had reportedly switched off three closed circuit television cameras before going for lunch.
The police said that persons known to Mr. Sanu must have committed the theft. The police have collected fingerprints and other evidence.
