JD(S) accuses Congress of bribing voters in MLC polls

Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada unit of JD(S) on Monday December 28, alleged that the Congress party bribed voters in the recently held MLC polls.

Addressing the media, JD(S) District President Mohammed Kunhi said that the Congress party bribed voters in Bantwal, Beltangady, Puttur and Hiriadka gram panchayat, with upto Rs 50,000, asking them to vote for their official candidate Pratapchandra Shetty. He said that no political party has got down to such a level in the history of DK.

On being asked if he has any proof to support his allegation, Kunhi said that a Hiriadka Gram Panchayat member, who was lured, brought the incident to their notice. He said that the JD(S) has filed a complaint in this regard with Election Commission.
