Janardhana Poojary files nomination; says ‘Our fight is against Modi’

Mangalore: Congress leader and Lok Sabha candidate from Dakshina Kannada constituency B Janardhana Poojary on Wednesday March 26 filed his nomination at DC’s office.

Poojary was accompanied by District in-charge Minister Ramanatha Rai, Health Minister U T Khadar,  MLAs J R Lobo, Vasanth Bangera, Mayor Mahabala Maarla, Deputy Mayor Kavitha, and other party members and workers of Congress.

Poojary had been to Ullal Dargah, Kudroli Shree Gokarnanatheshwara Temple and Milagres Church before filing the nomination.

Addressing media after filing the nomination, Poojary said that the nomination have been filed in four sets under the proposal given by Ramanath Rai, U T Khadar, Vasanth Bangera and JR Lobo.

He said, “Our campaign has already begun and the party workers are full of enthusiasm. They are putting in great efforts. The campaign organized so far is done in a simple manner and we have not exaggerated anything because our basic motto is to address the public rather than publicize.”

“The padayatra held under the initiative of our ministers and elected representatives received good response and the work done by the chief minister and the government is appreciated  by the people, he added.

“We need to build a nation free from communalism and not play divisive politics. We need to get rid of violence and build a peaceful society, for which Congress has been striving. We are secular and do not discriminate between any religion”, he added.

With reference to BJP, he said, “The BJP right from Kashmir to Kanyakumari has been asking votes in the name of Narendra Modi (BJP – PM candidate) and not in the party’s name or of its candidates. This means the contest is between Modi and Congress. We are working collectively. Congress comes first and then Janardhan Poojary,” he said.

Commenting on other parties like JD(S), he said they are not in the race.”Our fight is only against Modi,”he said.
