Jain leader Sunil Keerthi passes away; Moodbidri observes bundh

Moodbidri : Sunil Keerthi, Moodbidri’s  well-known  Jain leader, businessman and  grandson of Kunhanna Shetty, the last king  of the Chowtara Aramane here, has passed away on January 14, Tuesday. Traders in Moodbidri have downed their shutters on January 15, Wednesday in honour of the departed Jain leader.

Sunil Keerthi was a member of the DK District Jainamatha Sthapana Samithi and  President of Moodbidri DJVV Sangha, Sunil who was recently appointed   Trustee of Moodbidri’s 16 Basadis, was also the Founder of Padmavathi Kala Mandir. He was the owner of Tribhuvan Motors in Mangalore  and Magranth Motors in Moodbidri who are authorised dealers for Hero vehicles. He was also the   partner of Panchami Electronics,  authorised dealers of Sony products and Panchami Hotel in Mangalore.

His mortal remains  were placed at the Chowtara Palace for the public to pay their homage. The last rites were performed at Puttige Kayarmanj Palace. Udayashanker Prabhu, Secretary of Samaja Mandir Sabha and many other leaders have condoled the demise of Sunil Keerthi.
