Mangaluru: The Urwa police arrested three persons from a lodge in Bejai in connection with cricket betting and seized mobile and cash worth Rs 11,620 from their possession on Friday, April 5.

The arrested have been identified as Ismail (26), a resident of Thalikote in Vijayapura district, Ismail H (65) of Adyar and Joseph (27) of Kayarthadka in Beltangady taluk.

According to the police sources, the accused were engaged in cricket betting through a mobile app ‘Cricket Live Buzz.’ They were allegedly collecting money from the public during the IPL cricket match between Kolkata Night Riders and Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Friday evening. Based on a credible information, a team of police headed by Urwa Police Inspector Guruprasad rushed to a lodge located in Bejai and nabbed the accused.

A case has been registered at Urwa police station in this regard and investigation is on.
