Mangaluru: The Department of Computer Applications, St. Joseph’s Engineering College in association with TechnoCrats has organised “Joshiana 9.O”, a two-day national level IT fest for the students of MCA, MS, MSc, MTech and BE (CS and IS) courses on September 27, which was inaugurated at the Bishop Aloysius Paul D’Souza Auditorium, SJEC campus.
The Founder and CEO of Code Craft Technologies Dikshith Rai inaugurated the fest by lighting the lamp and unveiled the Joshiana Trophies.
In his message, Rai recalled his college days and said, “Events like Joshiana are an amazing and refreshing experience. It’s important to network and interact with people. Things change when we take up new roles. Skills are very important and that’s how I run my business without a sales team. Invest in your skills. It doesn’t matter if someone recognises it or not. Take any opportunity you get, start something you want. We can be the best with enough effort. Never give up. Learn the skills to identify problems, solve them and then update the management instead of depending on others for everything. Work like its your own firm.”
In-charge Principal Dr. Sudheer M, in his message, said, “The IT industry provides maximum opportunities in today’s world. But the changing needs of the customers have raised the need for upgradation. The industry needs to look forward. It’s not a bed of roses since a player in the sector has to face several challenges.” He then asked the engineers-in-the-making to make use of the opportunity to actively participate in the fest and demonstrate their talents, competency and skills.
Speaking about the event, the Director of SJEC, Fr. Wilfred Prakash D’Souza said, “This is a mega event and I invite all the participants to activate their skills, take the challenges, compete to win, but also respect your opponents. Compete and win a fair game. Events like this give us the opportunity to work as a team.” He then wished all the participants a pleasant time at the SJEC campus.
Students of about 20 colleges, from in and around Karnataka, are participating in Joshiana at the SJEC campus in a series of technical episodes. Joshiana is expected to initiate and foster relationships between SJEC’s postgraduate students and their counterparts in other technical institutions.
In all, 11 events such as Web Phenom, Code-A-Thon, Imagino, Nexplora, Hyper Maze, Headhoncho and many more attractive events are part of the two-day extravaganza.
