Mangaluru: An awareness programme was jointly conducted on 9th March 2015 by the departments of MSW and OBG as a part of  International Women’s Day at Yenepoya Medical College Hospital.

Dr Mohammed Amin Vani, Chief Operating Officer inaugurated the programme. In his speech he highlighted and appreciated the contributions of women in the society. He emphasized the need for creating opportunities for women to be educated, employed and to exercise their rights which are prerequisites for their empowerment. He called for making he right kind of choices in life for the betterment of self, family and society.

Mrs Irene Veigas, Lecturer, Department of MSW, spoke on the significance of the day and responsibilities of women in realising the theme of the year’Empowering women, Empowering the Humanity. Picture it’.

Dr Sadiquinnissa, Assoc.Professor of OBG,  Dr.Sunita Saldanha, Officer Hospital Operations, Mrs Bhanumathy, Nursing Superintendent and Mr Praveen, Hospital Superintendent were present on the dais.

Dr Mohammed Guthigar, HOD Dept.of MSW welcomed the gathering and Dr Gladys Colaco, Asst.Professor,Dept.of MSW proposed the vote of thanks.

With an objective of creating awareness on women rights students of MSW course demonstrated a skit to highlight the rights of women.

Ms.Ayeshath Shahnaz, student of MSW compered the programme.
