Ujire: Interdisciplinary research provides a new dimension to professionalism in the social sectors, said Prof. K. Bhairappa, Vice-Chancellor of Adichunchanagiri University on Thursday, March 25.

He was speaking as a resource person at a one-day seminar jointly organized by the Research Committee of SDM College and the IQAC (Paramarsh). He said “Both study and research are equally important today. Research support for the study increases the value of professionalism in a variety of fields, he said and added that interdisciplinary research studies play an important role in this regard.”

Further, he said “In a country like the US, technical institutions have incorporated medical education as a part of learning. The merger of both technical knowledge and medical knowledge leads to the invention. The educational institutions can create the trend of education that is needed for the development of both the sectors, he added.

Dr. Sathischandra S, Principal of SDM College, who presided over the program, said that the role of research in academic learning is perpetual. By establishing a sense of social responsibility, the college is providing students with an educational culture and preparing students to meet the needs of the competitive world. The research should be perceived as a fundamental component of academic text.
