Mangaluru: A couple allegedly committed suicide on Adyarpadavu railway tracks here on April 13.

Claud (35) and Jayanti (30) are the deceased.

Claud and Jayanti were in love. While Claud was postman, Jayanti was a salesgirl in an electronics shop. Both were neighbours at Neermarga.

Sources said that their families opposed their relationship as they belonged to different religions.

The couple went missing about two days before their suicide. It is suspected that they must have decided to end their lives as their families were not ready to accept their relationship.

The bodies were shifted to Wenlock hospital and a case was registered at the Mangaluru rural police station.
