
Mangaluru: The installation ceremony of the office bearers of Rotary Club of Mangaluru City RI District 3181 Zone 3 Charter No. 89257 for the year 2021-22 was held on Friday July 2 at 11.30 am. Rtn Canute Jeevan Pinto and his team of office bearers were installed during the ceremony.
The chief guest of the event was Rtn PHF Yathish Baikampady, assistant Governor, Zone-3, RID 3181. Rtn PHF Nithin Kamath, Zonal Secretary, and Rtn Rajendra Kalbhavi, Club Advisor was the Guest of Honour.
While giving the report for the previous year, Rtn Canute Jeevan Pinto said, “we were able to get a district designated fund of more than Rs. 45,000 and with the support of our members we were able to add more and renovate the electrical fittings and donate fans and light system at Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat Model School at Moodushedde.” He explained that this was part of the Happy School Project by the club.

He highlighted the role played by the members in donating medical equipment to the hospitals in need. Rtn Canute thanked all the members for participating whole heartedly towards all the activities of the club.
Canute is also the Director of Spearhead Media Group and a media professional. He was also appointed by the Karnataka government to the Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy for a two-year term.
Addressing the gathering, immediate past president, Rtn Dr. Anil Kumar said, “unlike this year, last year none of us knew what to do when the pandemic hit but still, I thank our Rotarians who actively guided us and planned for the current year.”
“In the future, instead of doing isolated projects for a particular year, we would be looking at projects which are continuous in nature and on which we can keep in improving. Hence the school project what we have done is just the beginning and we will work towards providing better facilities to the students as we go forward.”
He further added that even though it has been a challenging year, the club has managed and arranged projects with whatever time and resources they could find.

After the office bearers were installed by Rtn PHF Yathish Baikampady, the new president Rtn Canute Jeevan Pinto gave the acceptance speech wherein he expressed his happiness on being alleviated to this new role. “The more we give, the more we are likely to receive so that we can make a difference in the life of others. Fellow rotarians, this is what we have been trying to achieve together through our programmes and remember our theme for this year is ‘serve to change lives and sky is our limit’”
During the occasion, the club website, Rotary Mangalore city.com after revamp was relaunched by Rtn PHF Yathish Baikampady. Speaking on the occasion, he said, “I always believe that Rotary is a platform where we don’t have any boundaries or segregation and its more like an extended family.” He further said that it doesn’t matter which club you belong to, it matters what Rotary does in that region and how they respond to the particular requirements of that time.
The latest issue of club bulletin, ‘City bits and bytes’ was launched by Rtn PHF Nithin Kamath on the occasion. Speaking after, Rtn Nithin congratulated the new team and said that he hoped to see greater number of people join the club.
Club Advisor Rtn Rajendra Kalbhavi said that all the members of the club are working very well and proving themselves time and again. “Continue this movement and I am sure that you will be coming out with flying colours,” he said.
During the vote of thanks, secretary Rtn Basav Kumar thanked each and every one who had gathered on the occasion to carry out this programme.
