Install 60 CC cameras at Kukke Subrahmanya temple, DC

Mangalore: Deputy Commissioner AB Ibrahim on Tuesday instructed authorities of the Kukke Subrahmanya temple to install 60 closed circuit television cameras at a total cost of Rs 49 lakh to tighten security measures.

After inspecting the temples last month, the DC at a meeting in his office said that authorities at the Kukke Subrahmanya temple and the Kateel Durgaparameshwari temple should give preference to local people while appointing security personnel. He directed the officials of the panchayat to take action against those who are disposing waste in the Nandini river, close to Kateel temple.

The DC asked to clean the tanker which is supplying drinking water for the devotees of both the temples, at least twice a day.

During the meet, the authorities of the temple said that they received nearly 21,000 sarees as offerning from the deity, among them 7,000 sarees were auctioned and the collection was Rs 8 lakh.

The meeting also discussed to set up sign boards at eight different places and installment of LED projector and screen.

Sadashiv Prabhu, Additional DC, Vasudeva Asranna, Trustee of Kateel Temple, Ningaiah, Nanjegowda and Uday Kumar were among others present at the meeting.
