Illegal slaughterhouse raided; accused escape

Mangaluru: Officers of the Ullal Police crime unit raided a cattle slaughterhouse operating illegally in the Chembugudde region near Ullal on Saturday April 12.

The illegal slaughtering was done in a house. The police have seized seven alive and 4 slaughtered animals from the place.
The accused have been identified as M C Bawa, his brother M C Khadar, while two others are yet unknown. All four have managed to escape.

According to the police sources, credible information about the illegal slaughtering was conveyed to the police, after which they raided the house. When they reached the location two men were cutting meat while other two were on the bike to deliver the meat. As soon as they saw the police coming, they abandoned the spot and ran, it was said.

The same slaughter house was raided on November 14 last year and police had seized about hundred kilograms of meat however the meat seized, this time, is much more than before.

Four persons were also arrested then though later they were bailed out. The absconded M C Bawa is said to be in the same business for years.
