Illegal cattle trafficking bid thwarted; accused escape

Moodbidri: Police on Monday morning intercepted an Indica Vista car allegedly trafficking cattle illegally and rescued three cows. The incident took place at Alangar.

According to sources, the cattle were being trafficked from Beluvai towards Moodbidri. Based on a tip-off, the police got into a chase and on seeing the cops, the driver of the car tried to speed up the vehicle and as a result the vehicle toppled. The accused managed to flee from the spot. However, the cattle were rescued.

Police sources said that they are yet to ascertain the identity of the accused. Further investigations are underway.
