Mangaluru: The Prime Minister addressing District commissioners said, “Every district has its own set of problems and challenges. You’re well aware of this. If your district defeats the Corona pandemic, the nation as a whole will be victorious.’’

He said during a video conference interaction with Chief Ministers of 10 States and deputy commissioners of their 46 districts on the Covid-19 situation in the country. As many as 17 deputy commissioners of the State’s districts participated in the video conference.

“Saving lives and livelihood should be the priority. Guidelines and protocols on micro containment zones and home isolation must be strictly adhered to,” he said.

PM Modi said oxygen plants are being installed in all district hospitals under the PM-Cares Fund. He urged state governments and local governments to take the appropriate measures to address oxygen shortages as soon as possible and to ensure that oxygen control committees function effectively to achieve the goal of eliminating oxygen shortages and availability issues.

Modi emphasised the importance of actively involving local residents in all villages. “Everyone in the village must take a pledge that Corona will not be allowed to enter my village.” Every village has its own inherent power, which must be properly channelized and utilized,” he explained.

Local containment and increased testing must be our most effective weapons against the pandemic, according to the Prime Minister, who also requested that state governments and district administrations ensure an increase in the number of treatment beds and take stern action against black-market sales of critical drugs and medical equipment, which will help raise public confidence.
