Mangalore: Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel who has been given another chance by his party to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, addressed a press meet at the BJP office on Saturday March 1 and said that he has tried his level best to discharge the responsibilities shouldered on him in the last five years and also to redress various grievances of the people of the district.


A book named ‘Nalin Kumar Kateel Sansadaraagi 5 Varsha: Kshetra Abhivriddhiya Pathadalli’ outlining his achievements as MP and the developmental works initiated in his constituency during the past five years, was released by Pratap Simha Nayak, District BJP President on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Nalin said he has always tried to highlight various issues pertaining to the district in the Parliament and added he had raised issues pertaining to problems of arecanut farmer, Niddodi project and projects pertaining to development of roads.
Referring to the railway developments brought in, Nalin Kumar Kateel said “Meetings are conducted once in every three months to discuss railway issues and demands.”
The MP also informed that projects worth Rs 1,340.83 crore has been spent on various projects in the constituency, including highway works, drinking water projects etc. He also said he has taken pains to utilise Rs 19.61 crore of MP fund fully for various developmental works.
MLC Monappa Bhandary, Sulochana GK Bhat and other BJP leaders were present at the press meet.
