Hundreds gather in AYUSH Habba event to mark healthy lifestyle

Mangaluru: AYUSH Habba – 2015 will be held at Dr. Shivaram Karanth Pilikula Nisargadhama on December 19 and 20. As a curtain raiser, a walkathon was held on Thursday December 17, from Bunts Hostel Circle to Nehru Maidan followed by a ‘Yoga For All’ session mainly comprising the students of various AYUSH colleges.

Over 500 students and elders participated in the walkathon and the yoga session. President of Bunts’ Association Ajith Kumar Rai Malady flagged off the walkathon.

Speaking to News Karnataka, Dr Devdas Puthran from the AYUSH Department, Mangaluru, said that the AYUSH Habba is being organized in order to create awareness among people. “This Habba is a ‘celebration of health’. This celebration is open to all irrespective of age, religion, caste, sex or any other parameter,” he said. He gave a call to every individual mooting for a healthy life to be a part the Habba.

Various yogaasanas namely Tadasana, Vakrasana, Ardha Chakrasana, Paada Hasthasana, Ardha Kati, Badhha Konaasana, Padhmasana, Vajrasana, Ardha Ushtrasana, Pavana Mukhthaasana, Shavasana, Naadi Shudhhi Praanayama, Bhramari, Sarala Dhyaana and Shaanthi Manthra were performed.

Various events such as free screening camp, distribution of AYUSH health cards, AYUSH food festival, yoga sessions, information of use of medicines prepared out of cow products (panchagavya), cultural extravaganza, home remedies and diet regimens will be held, during the two-day event.
