Udupi : A deeply humiliated and shocked Udupi MLA Raghupathi Bhat has said that he would not be contesting the assembly elections.
The news comes in the backdrop of a sex CD involving the MLA in a sex act with an unidentified young woman, widely circulated in Udupi and also reaching media houses.
The MLA who says he saw the CD just on March 27, Wednesday night, strongly feels that this was an attempt to tarnish his image and aimed at preventing him from contesting the elections. He has clearly stated that he was not the person who was seen in the CD .
“ I am humiliated, shocked and surprised on seeing it,” reacted the MLA whose image has taken a severe beating following the episode. He is learnt to have conveyed his message to some TV channels that he was opting out of the poll arena and will not contest the elections.
The Udupi MLA has also demanded a thorough probe into the case and promised that he would not return to politics until the investigations are over and he comes out clean.
The timing of the circulation of the sex CD has also given a room for doubt, if it only aimed at denting the image of the MLA. Even the opposition expressed by several within the party including RSS leaders against his candidature, is noteworthy here. Many party workers had strongly felt that Bhat’s candidature would only help the opposition to launch a tirade against him in the wake of his alleged involvement in the case of the suspicious death of his wife Padmapriya.
It may be worth mentioning here that a needle of suspicion had been pointed towards him in the case of Padmapriya death case which had hit the national headlines. Padmapriya who went missing from Udupi, in an unexpected turn of events was found hanging inside a flat in Delhi.
The latest sex CD episode, has dented the image of the MLA beyond repair and has also been a major blow to the ruling party which has already been rocked by several sex scandals.
