Mangalore : Several valuables, records and a cash of Rs 12000 were destroyed in a fire mishap  on the first floor of a house at Arya Samaj Road on Sunday April 13. It is suspected that a short circuit was responsible for the fire.

The house is owned by Venkatraj and the fire was noticed   just half an hour after Venkatraj’s brother who stayed on the first floor but had shifted recently,  had left the place. Fire tender vehicles from Pandeshwar put out the fire.

It is learnt, property records apart from jewels were gutted in the fire. Family members said the house suffered from rat menace and that rats might have nibbled the electric cables leading to short circuit.
