Mangalore:The Vishwa Hindu Parishat and the Bhajrangdal  organised a protest at the Gandhi Park near the Town Hall in Mangalore on August 26, Monday  condemning the arrest of VHP leaders Ashok Singhal and Praveen Togadia at Ayodhya.

Speaking on the occasion, VHP leader MB Puranik said  the  act of the Government in hindering the  Parikrama Yatra which is organised every year  by Sadhus and Sanths is condemnable. He also charged the government of trying to come in the way of the construction of Ram Mandir at Ayodhya despite  a High Court ruling permitting the same. He further  lashed out at the Government for arresting the VHP leaders in a bid to thwart the Yatra.

The two-hour long protest was marked by bhajans, prayers and slogans  in support of the construction of Ram Mandir at Ayodhya.

Several Hindu leaders including Jagadish Shenava, Manohar Tulajaram, Sharan Pumpwell, Pradeep Pumpwell and  Jithendra Kottary participated in the protest.
