Mangalore:The Vishwa Hindu Parishat and the Bhajrangdal organised a protest at the Gandhi Park near the Town Hall in Mangalore on August 26, Monday condemning the arrest of VHP leaders Ashok Singhal and Praveen Togadia at Ayodhya.
Speaking on the occasion, VHP leader MB Puranik said the act of the Government in hindering the Parikrama Yatra which is organised every year by Sadhus and Sanths is condemnable. He also charged the government of trying to come in the way of the construction of Ram Mandir at Ayodhya despite a High Court ruling permitting the same. He further lashed out at the Government for arresting the VHP leaders in a bid to thwart the Yatra.
The two-hour long protest was marked by bhajans, prayers and slogans in support of the construction of Ram Mandir at Ayodhya.
Several Hindu leaders including Jagadish Shenava, Manohar Tulajaram, Sharan Pumpwell, Pradeep Pumpwell and Jithendra Kottary participated in the protest.
