Belthangadi: Hindu activists traced a place where cows were slaughtered in the government owned forest zone. Police arrested two in connection with the incident in Rekhya village on January 26.
Hindu activists from Rekhya,Shishila and Arasinamakki villages found a place in Kayarthodi forest area in Rekhya village limits where cows were slaughtered illegally. They informed the police, who arrived at the spot and found four people involved in the slaughter. They had slaughtered a cow by then and were busy separating the meat from other parts. Meat, skin and skeletal remains of one cow were found at the spot by the police.
A case has been registered in Dharmastahala police station in connection with the incident.
Right wing activists also found a cow being transported for slaughter in Savya village limits in the morning. The cow was later handed over to the police.
