Heavy rains uproot trees, damage houses in DK

Mangalore :  Incessant downpour in various parts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts, have thrown normal life out of gear in the two districts. If holiday was declared for schools in various taluks of the district  on July 3, Wednesday, primary and high schools will also remain closed in Puttur, Sullia and Belthangady taluks even on July 4, Thursday.

In Mangalore,  heavy rains have uprooted several trees. At Muttadakani, a portion of a private firm was damaged due to a tree fall. In Hathill too a tree fell over a house. In Lalbagh, a tree rolled on to the road  and damaged an electric pole while also disrupting traffic.

The Hosamutta bridge a vital link to the pilgrim town of Subrahmanya too submerged  on Wednesday. Uppinangady faced fears of floods. Bajpe, Kinnigoli too recorded good rainfall.

In Sullia too rivers are overflowing. At Hosmar in Bantwal, a house was damaged due to landslide while three electric poles too landed on the ground.
