
Mangaluru: Poor visibility owing to the heavy rains that have been lashing the city since the early hours of May 29, have resulted in one flight being diverted and a couple of flights being temporarily delayed.
The Mangaluru International Airport Director V V Rao told NewsKarnataka, “An Air India flight that was supposed to land here has been diverted to Trivandrum (Thiruvananthapuram) due to the poor visibility. When the weather and visibility improve, the flights will resume.”
The weather conditions seemed to have improved for now and the airport authorities have stated that normal operations have resumed.
Fire Department to the rescue:
The Fire department in Mangaluru city is currently putting in all its efforts and have employed all possible means to rescue and move people from the affected areas.
Kishore of the Yeyyadi fire department told NewsKarnataka that the fire department and emergency personnel were evacuating people to safer areas using boats and other manpowered means.
