Heavy rain causes huge loss for farmers

Kasargod : Heavy rain lashing the coastal region has caused huge loss to residents of Kasargod.

 

There is a fear of flood in the area as the water level in the Shiriya canal in Kumbla has increased.

Reportedly more than 65 families have been shifted already. 20 houses have been affected as the rain water entered inside. Many other houses are in danger.

Manjeshwar Tahshildar N Prabhakaran, Koipady Village officer M B Lokesh visited the spot.

The heavy rains caused a landslide on the Badiyadka-Cherkala road which disrupted traffic for a few hours.  As per the district administration, the district has received 1943 mm of rain.

It has caused a huge loss of 3.35 crores to the farmers. 20 houses have been damaged completely and more than 274 houses are affected partially. 13 people have died due to these heavy rains.
