Mangaluru: Heavy rains that lashed in the city resulted in landslides and inundation of low lying areas on Wednesday, July 10.

The rains which started in the early hours on Wednesday turned into a heavy downpour by mid-afternoon. Many low lying areas in the city witnessed artificial flooding and water entered many compounds also. Major areas that saw inundation were Kodialguthu, Kottara Chowki, Adyar, Yekkuru and other areas. Most of the roads in the city were ankle deep in water due to either drains being full or lack of drains.

Due to the incessant rain, a landslide occurred at Akasha Bhavan area, in which a house was damaged partially. Immediately, Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) has taken measures to remove the soil to ensure no further damage.
