Mangaluru: Former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy’s recent “mini mini powder” remark has made a cameo appearance in Tulunadu’s folk art, Yakshagana, as the artistes used these words to entertain their audience.

A tulu social-oriented Yakshagana performance which was staged in the city two days ago had incorporated HDK’s “mini mini powder” statement, which was made during a recent press conference on the Mangaluru International Airport bomb scare. In the enactment, a comedy artiste communicates with Bhagavatha (playback singer) and says that he has got some powder from somebody. When Bhagavatha asks what the powder is and from where he got it, the comedy artiste says that it a “mini mini powder” and that he got it from a resident of the Hassan district. Elaborating on the person from whom he received the powder, the artiste says that he has a very dark complexion and that he is bald. Even though the artist doesn’t say the name, it is clear that he is talking about the former chief minister.

It can be recalled that during a press conference in Ullal a few days ago, HDK had said that what Aditya Rao, the accused in the MIA bomb scare case, had placed at the airport is not a bomb, but an object being prepared using “mini mini powder” used in crackers. Soon after this press conference, memers started churning out interesting memes poking fun at the JD(S) leader. After enjoying the memes, now people are enjoying the incident through Yakshagana as well.

This is the second time that HDK’s words have been ridiculed through Yakshagana. It can be recalled that previously, his words ‘Nikhil Yelliddiyappa” ( Nikhil where are you?) also went viral on social media during the Loka Sabha elections last year.
