Kasargod: Acting on a tip off, the Kasargod police have busted a Hawala racket with the arrest of one person at Ashwini Nagar on September 6, Friday. Police have also seized a cash of  Rs 66 lakh from him.

A police team led by Kasargod DySP Mohanchandran arrested  Mohammad Ali (66)  from Talangere Kadavatt when he alighted from a bus which arrived from Mumbai and was about to board a car which was waiting for him.

The car fled the scene as soon as people inside it noticed the cops.  Meanwhile, interrogations of Mohammad revealed that he was given a  bag of cash by a person in Mumbai who had asked it to hand over to some person in Kasargod. Police found a blue cash bag inside the suitcase which Mohammad had.

Investigations are underway.
