
Mangaluru/New Delhi: Kannada movie “March 22” produced by NRI entrepreneur Harish Sherigar bagged a National Award in the best lyrics category for the song “Muthuratna” composed by J M Prahlad.
Kannada movie “Hebbettu Ramakka” and Tulu film “Paddayi” bagged the honours in the regional film category from the state.
The 65th National Film Awards were announced at Shastri Bhavan in New Delhi by the 10-member jury panel headed by director Shekhar Kapur.
The awards will be presented by President Ram Nath Kovind at a glittering ceremony on May 3.
“March 22”, a film produced by Dubai-based entrepreneur Harish Sherigar and his wife Sharmila Sherigar under the banner of ACME Movies International Film was released across Karnataka on August 25 last year and subsequently overseas.
Padmashri Dr. B R Shetty, a renowned NRI businessman had made a special appearance in the song “Muthurathnada pete, Chidravaite Kote.”
The film had strong social message on communal harmony and drew wide appreciation from movie buffs as well as on social media.
