Mangalore: The Congress organized a press meet on Monday January 13, under the guidance of acting district Congress president Ibrahim Kodijal to announce the programs across the district before the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.


Before Ibrahim Kodijal could address on the topic of the press meet, he made an affirmation saying that the protest at Gurupur was organized with the aim of restoring communal harmony in the district. He also added that during the protest a few Congress party workers demanded arrest of Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat for his inflammatory speech against Muslims and then fought among themselves.
Kodijal however failed to give clear-cut reply when questioned about the motive of the protest. He also had no satisfactory answer when asked why Kalladka Bhat was not arrested even when the party’s own government was in power in the state and that the Congress has not made any formal complaint against Bhat.
Kodijal Ibrahim only claimed that the government and the law are two different bodies government will only go in accordance to law.
He also said that following the Gurupur incident, the Congress has urged the Police Commissioner, Chief Minister as well as Home Minister to take action against Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat.
Kodijal informed about the programs that will be conducted across the district by the Dakshina Kannada district Congress committee to educate and create awareness about the various development works and pro-people programs undertaken by the union and state governments.
The programs will be held on January 20 at Puttur- 10:30 am and Mangalore -3 pm; January 21 at Moodbidri- 10:30 am and Bantwal- 3 pm; January 22 at Sullia-3 pm; January 26 at Mangalore South -10:30 am and January 27 at Beltangady- 10:30 am.
