Karkala: A youth lost his life in a gruesome mishap involving a car and mini bus, at Karkala-Bajagoli on Wednesday.

Three others have sustained severe injuries.

The deceased is Nikshith (28). Kristhi (31), a toddler named Kriti and Malathi Rao (58) have sustained severe injuries.

The four were traveling in a car from Ujire to Udupi when a mini bus collided with the car head on.

While driver Nikshit was rushed to KMC Manipal, he died without responding to the treatment.

It is said that Karkala-Bajagoli road has witnessed several gruesome mishaps claiming several lives.

Sign boards, speed controllers, humps, dividers, cat’s eye etc have not been put in place. These have been leading to mishaps, say locals.
