Mangaluru: The Green Tribunal on Wednesday January 27, gave its consent for building the district Deputy Commissioner’s office in Padil.

The Tribunal had directed to chop the trees in the land earmarked for setting up the office after getting permission from the competent authority.
The land, which is a quasi Bio Diversity Park, houses over 478 trees here of different species. In this view, a group of environmentalists had earlier moved the High Court opposing the decision of the administration. After much legal battle, the case solely depended on the verdict of the Tribunal.
