Belthangady: The demand by Belthangady and Karkala gram panchayat associations for hike in salary for gram panchayat employees has been fulfilled with Labour minister Santhosh Lad issuing an order.
The Belthangady gram panchayat association led by President Deviprasad Bolma along with Karkala gram panchayath employees Union has been protesting and demanding a hike in salary for the workers at the local bodies. Following the protests, the Labour department had issued an order on August 4 to hike the minimum remuneration.
The hike along with dearness allowance will be applicable to attendants, data entry operators and several other posts in the local bodies. Minister Santhosh Lad had sent a proposal to hike the salary after Deviprasad Bolma met him and urged to take action in this regard.
