Mangaluru: The state government may have decided to discontinue the financial grants being provided to two schools run by RSS strongman Dr Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat but the money gods definitely have been favoring these two schools, thanks to the support from various quarters.

After an online campaign ‘Bhiksham Dehi’ by three Mangaloreans settled in Mumbai named Mahesh, Vikram and Vivek many more people have come forward to support the schools. The Bhiksham Dehi campaign itself, which kicked off only last week has reportedly garnered massive response and has collected nearly Rs 38 lakhs, including Rs 26 lakh donated by mining baron and former minister, Janardhan Reddy. Chikkamagalur-Udupi MP Shobha Karandalaje too has started a campaign by collecting fist full of rice for the schools.

The online campaign aims to mobilize around Rs 80 lakh to ensure that the school children are fed sumptuous mid-day meals. Apart from the money the school has also received donations in kind viz 5,000 kg rice

On Tuesday, Janardhan Reddy during his visit to the school donated Rs 26 lakhs for the ‘Bhiksham Dehi’ campaign. Addressing the gathering at Sri Rama Vidya Kendra school, Reddy said that he and his friends, business associates will whole-heartedly support the campaign. He also mentioned that the state government can expect a befitting reply from the people in the coming elections for their demonic act of stopping grants.

Several people have condemned the act of the state government to withdraw financial aid from these schools which has a student population of nearly 2000 children mostly from the economically backward society and have come forward to express their solidarity with Dr Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat.
