Mulki : A gory road mishap at Elinje Pete  in Mulki Police Station limits on Sunday August 3 has resulted in the death of a bike rider. The pillion rider has sustained critical injuries. The accident took place when the bike riders were returning after visiting the Kodyadka Temple.

The  deceased bike rider is Maanthesh (22). Pillion rider Basavaraj (19) sustained  serious injuries in the accident.

It is learnt, Maanthesh along with Basavaraj and four other friends had set out in three bikes to the Temple at around 10 am. It  is said, Maanthesh was over speeding  during the return journey.  As the bike reached Elinje he lost control and the vehicle rammed against the milestone on the roadside. Maanthesh suffered serious head injuries and died on the spot.  The injured Basavaraj has been admitted to AJ Hospital in Mangalore. North Traffic Police have registered a case.
